Seriously, what´s the use for a place like Facebook? I´ve tried it for a couple of month but I just find it silly and frustrating with all noncense applications there. + All the bull about Facebook claiming rights to all material you upload and the spyware... So I´m outa there.

Oh and thanx Krometekk for the subscription :-) It was very nice of you!

Cheers
Anders

:hmm: Facebook does have some good points to it, particularly the ability to pull in info from other places like Digg, Last.fm, Pandora, Google Reader, etc. - but the proliferation of 'novelty' apps, and the way they've fumbled the ball on privacy, make me think I'll probably wipe out and close down my profile soon. As it is, most of the people I know there are either on here or Livejournal or somewhere else, so I'm not going to lose touch with anyone.

I don't do any of those places, facebook or myspace so I actually can't comment. I don't because they all seem like more trouble then they are worth. Although....I could be wrong:shrug: :hug:sss

From what I have read Facebook is aimed at students and a younger audience. I have also heard quite a lot of bad reports about it. But for some reason it is very popular.

Well there´s a lot of companies who form groups there so it´s not just students but well, well. Some might like it :-)

Theres is lots of strong debates going on about these communities but I wanted to express my ideas briefly.

The use of that kind of virtual communities is to create databases about the people around world. If companies have more detail about peoples' trends and tendecies, they can shape their products easily. Most of facebook users are giving their exact id and interests, they are sharing their likes, dislikes etc... certain visual and audial art trends are being tested using by the "pointless applications". From now on producers can not only shape their products according to these databases and reach more accurate targets(consumers) but also shape us -as a consumer- for their products.

I know It sounds too paranoiac but I can't figure out any reasonable explanation :)
